My .50cents curtain

A couple of days ago, my daughter told me that she couldn't sleep well because of the new light from our neighbor's house was shining into her bedroom. Of course, I wanted to fix the problem. I started looking for curtains, rods, brackets, and knobs, YIKES! How expensive they are. Seriously why do they have to be so expensive

Days of thinking in how to fix the problem, I started looking in Pinterest for ideas,  I found a lot of ideas. The best thing of finding those ideas is that I had everything in my house. I found an electrical conduit in the garage that hubby bought years ago, I think it was for some project, that he never did. I spray painted. The brackets, it was for another project, never used until now, whoops that was my fault. The fabric is from Joann's leftovers, you know the ones that they put in a shelf for less money. I bought it around 5 or 6 years ago, thinking of course, in other project but instead of doing the project it went straight to the "started-but-never-finished" bin.

At this point you are asking "why .50 cents" :) .50 cents was what I paid for the knob, at Habitat for Humanity Restore. I love that place. Not only you can find crazy stuff but also because they are inexpensive. Oh I love that word. They were not meant for the curtain rod; those knobs were meant for cabinets but I glued them with hot glue to the "rod"

With 0.50 cents and a little imagination, my daughter has a new curtain in her bedroom that would fix the light problem.  Hopefully she could sleep well all night long.

A Cup of Tea

If you are like me and drink tea everyday or almost everyday, then congratulations you are a tea lover. :) Nothing bad with that, right?

I love tea. I grew up drinking tea, back on the days when I was a little girl (only a couple years ago :) ) and living every now and them with my aunt, uncle (tia Maye and tio  Amado) and cousins. They didn't have money but they always had something to feed us. They always had lemongrass tea (hierbabuena).

So because it is a part of my culture, I always recommend tea for every sickness. I make ginger tea  for stomach aches, lemon balm tea for headaches or tooth aches,  cinnamon tea for cramps, for diarrhea lemongrass tea, and for colds lemon tea. I always going to recommend for you a cup of  tea.
Enjoy your cup of tea!

SAVE MONEY GROWING YOUR OWN HERBS. It is easy!

I like to cook.  I like to add fresh herbs to all my dishes, stews or sauces.  The smell of a good dish is what opens my appetite and my husband's too.  You know Love comes from the kitchen :).  In my house, I grow my own herbs.  I have some in garden pots and others on the ground. They reproduce themselves and I do not have to water them all the time (I am bad at that), plus I do not have to go out and buy herbs all the time.

So the next time that you are in a nursery garden, think about how easy it is to save money growing your own herbs and making delicious dishes.
basil (albahaca)

green onions (cebollina) spanish basil (albahaca espanola) oregano,
rosemary(romero)
culantros

Did you notice the eggshells?  Well, the eggshells provide calcium, a nutrient that all plants needs to grow, plus the eggshells discourage pests, for that reason instead of throwing the eggshells in the trash I throw them in my garden.

AHORRA DINERO PLANTANDO Y COSECHANDO TUS PROPIAS ESPECIAS O PLANTAS AROMATICAS.

A mi me gusta cocinar.
